Adjusting the Speed of a Synaptics TouchPad

Thread Starter
On my new laptop, the touchpad moves achingly slow compared to the mouse I'm using--a RAT 7. I could increase the speed of mouse movement in general through the mouse properties, but when you increase that speed, you decrease the precision of your mouse. Is there any other way to make the touchpad faster?
Thanks!

Did you go into the Synaptics driver settings? There's a tab under mouse settings specifically for the touchpad. My setup: Touch sensitivity 2nd from left (left being light touch). General mouse pointer speed, 2nd from fastest; "enhance pointer precision" box checked. Palm check; max (or 2nd from right). If you move closer to heavy touch it will be a little more accurate. Personally I find my Synaptic touchpad fairly accurate and fast, but a lot of it depends on your preference for touchpad finish (some are better with matte, some with glossy). Of course if I have real work to do (like CAD modeling), I'm busting out the wireless mouse, no avoiding it.
