Hey, guys.
I've been putting this build together for a while now, and I'm about to order my final few parts in one large batch. But before I do that, I would love to hear some opinions on my build. Do you see any flaws with my set-up, or would you recommend different parts? Let me know!
This rig is designed primarily to be a gaming-intensive system, but with enough room on the sidelines for some excessive hobbywork (i.e. graphics design, video encoding, perhaps even folding).
Note: GREEN parts have already been purchased, and are final. I can't change those. But I would definitely like to hear your critiques regarding the few RED, as-yet unordered parts!
So, without further ado:
=====================================
Core Elements:
Case: COOLER MASTER HAF-X
CPU: Intel i7-2600K
Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 WS-Revolution
I might catch a fair bit of flak for my motherboard choice, but I went with it because it easily fits my configuration.
Video Cards (2): EVGA GTX 580 3GB 2-way SLI
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X 16GB 1866
Sound Card: ASUS Xonar Essence STX
PSU: Corsair AX1200
Boot Drive: Crucial M4 64GB SSD
"Critical Program" Drive: Crucial M4 128GB SSD
Archiving Drive(s): Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
I plan to get as many of these as I need.
=====================================
Peripherals:
Monitor: BenQ XL2420T
I'll probably buy one or two more of these down the road, but I'm just starting with one for now.
Speakers: HiVi M200MkIII
I'll probably add a subwoofer on later, as well.
Additional Fans for HAF-X:
Fan Controller: Undecided. Options:
Fan Filters: DEMCiflex HAF-X Filters
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
BD/DVD-ROM Drive: ASUS Generic BD/DVD Burner
Thermal Paste: Arctic Cooling MX-4
=====================================
And here's the cooling configuration I plan to use (jacked from HardForum, credit goes to the guys over there):
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Thanks for taking the time to read through this. Let me know what you think!
