Corsair TX650 -- DOA after only 24 hours? - Page 2

I'll be contacting Newegg on the restocking fee.

They are going to eat that..

But as stated, this is my GF's computer, and she does not want to "wait" for a replacement to ship.

It was also her Credit Card that paid for it, so she wants a Refund and thats what she is getting.

She has however agreed that she might spend a little more on a replacement; so if I can convince her to take another Corsair, then I might have her buy the TX650M for the sake that its Modular! The store we're going to tonight, has them all in-stock, though their prices are about $10 more then Newegg on average...

She doesn't care though.

She just wants her computer working again tonight!

Somehow I don't think you are going to get it working tonight laugher.gif Unless you have a spare PSU, and a wish I bought a modular PSU the first time around, the bottom of my case is a mess lol

If she gets her way, it will be working tonight...

I do, have a spare Tt ToughPower 650 in one of MY other PC's.

I have removed it, and plugged it into her motherboard, and confirmed that the Motherboard gets power and the fans spin up.

I have also taken her Radeon, and put it into MY system, and booted it to confirm that her Radeon still works.

I have not yet tested her HDD though, but I suspect that over all, her system is fine and its just the PSU that blew.

She gets a replacement tonight, that computer will be working tonight.

I still have some faith in Corsair, thanks to all who have posted in this thread to reassure me on the TX series of PSUs... so therefore, I will try to talk her into a Modular TX...

But, this is the girl who... when I priced out her parts, I suggested she get a Corsair PSU and priced out this TX as it was cheap on Newegg and within her proposed budget, but when I priced her a 'cheap keyboard' to keep it in her budget... she through a fit and DEMANDED, that I add the Logitech G110 keyboard because .. "Thats what YOU have and I LOVE it!!" .. so that put her $60 over her budget and she did not care because she was getting the same keyboard that I have that shes used to play her games on my computer...

So now after this Corsair goes boom on her at 3 in the morning, scaring the living heck out her with that extra loud "POW!" .. and at just barely 24 hours after we first turned it on...

She is now obsessing over wanting to replace it right way, but with.. "I want what YOU have!!"

Just thought I'd post a quite update on this...

We bought a replacement, and I convinced her to give Corsair another try.

We went out to FRYS on Monday night, and found a TX650M (modular version) being sold for cheaper then the TX650-V2 was that we bought on Newegg!

I installed it, and her system seems to be working fine with no further problems!

Now I just gotta call Newegg and get them to waive the Restocking Fee on the dead one, and hopefully convince them to cover the shipping cost of sending it back to them!
