How do I remove S.M.A.R.T HDD (malware virus program)

Thread Starter
Hello, my computer has s.m.a.r.t. hdd installed for some reason, and I have looked in to it and it is a virus, it fake scans your hdd for errors and claims to have found a load of critical errors, I don't have any problem with my hdd though, it also makes a lot of files and folders hidden, to fake them being lost, when you try to remove it it says that you can't because the C: drive is broken and needs a repair, so I downloaded, installed and uninstalled some other software from my c drive and it had no issues. Does anyone know how to remove this program? it's cluttering up my ram and screen with popups and it's changing settings, it removed my wallpeper and all of my themes, and emptied my taskbar of icons, and my start thing has nothing in it anymore.

Thanks

- Evillord

[Edit]

I have also tried combofix but that only fixed it for one boot.

Try this guide to removing. I used it on a family members computer and worked. It is a complicated fix, but worth the time. If it had been my computer, I probably would have just formatted and reinstalled though.

Malwarebytes anti malware is free on download.com. Youll most likely have to download it on another computer, put it on a flash and then once in safemode install it and let it run its course. Try going to www.avast.com and if the page loads you can go to download.com and install malware bytes. That virus blocks antimalware/antivirus sites if I recall correctly.

Can safely say that'll do the job. It's what I've always used on clients systems.

Have you tried the TDSSkiller made by Kaspersky? I find that utility to fix most rootkit viruses that reside in the boot sector of your drive. Clean with whatever antimalware software you have, then run TDSSkiller. Hopefully all is well afterwards!

Be sure to keep the internet unplugged from the infected machine though, could be downloading other virii as you speak who-let-rip-smiley.png
