Laptop DDR3 memory upgrade question

Thread Starter
I just bought an HP G6 laptop running an AMD A6 3420M cpu. It has 4gb (1 stick) of this memory (Ramaxel Technology RMT3020EC58E9F1333). Can I just add any DDR3- 10600 4gb stick to get to 8 gb, or should I go with a 2x4gb kit? What memory would you recommend (either 1 stick or pair) for this budget laptop?

I would go with a 2X4 GB pair as they are guaranteed to be compatible, you can most likely get away with just using another 4GB stick, though you may run into issues as they are not binned together. Just IMO, it allows you to be worry free that you're not going to receive any errors in the future because of incompatibility thumb.gif

Can I run the 1.35v ram in this system or do I need the 1.5v? Is there any way to determine how many volts the current ram in the system is? I will probably just get a 2x4gb kit to avoid any issues unless someone confinces me that there is no problems with running unmatched sets.
