I like to left arrow a few dozen times to the start of the text, press and hold shift while pressing the right arrow dozens of times to highlight the whole text, then take your finger of the shift key and press the right arrow again to unhighlight everything and lastly backspace to the start of the text.

Simples.

I like triple click select in iceweasel (well, actually, i'm used to it, i don't like it more than any other method per se) and i get annoyed in windows where firefox seem to behave differently in this regard (first click selects everything, then other clicks don't do anything useful).

And am i the only one who feels like chrome integrates too much with google for a browser? I used it only for very short period but what i found was lack of preferences and too much google popping everywhere for my liking. Might just be me.

I use google for EVERTHING usually, so the integration I like. You can disable some of those in the preferences though, but not all of it. As far as speed, it gives me by far the best performance of any browser on my pc. I have the hardware that can run it and handle it's processing needs, so i prefer it over others simply because of the way it works in WINDOWS.

it's not as sleek and there is not the same performance gap in Fedora though, so i'm starting to have a preference towards firefox. Might DL waterfox to see if it fares better on my rig.

LOL. That's like complaining that IE is too integrated with Windows/MS. But you can change a lot of the settings and the part that sold me was how much better syncing was (2years ago) compared to FF. Also, things always looked weird or something in FF for me. To me I'm fine with the trade off but I can understand if others aren't.

yeah, syncing it too my phone is one of the main reason I use chrome as well. opera has this too, but I think i'll wait until they switch away from presto before considering full time use apart from my phone.

You're not the only one, but that was the whole point of Google releasing Chrome in the first place. I think Chromium is a little less spyware though.

People do complain about that. In fact that was the reason for one of Microsoft's many anti-trust cases.
