will get you guys added soon. Mean while, it's been pretty slow in this sub-section for the past few days so I thought I'd get some debate going. Which large company do you think has the biggest positive effect on the open source world? I've listed a few of the software giants in the poll, but I'd really like some thread postings on other company's/why/etc. The ones above are really all of the HUGE companys I can think of, I would have put Mozilla but apparently the company just supports the foundation.

You forgot IBM and a few others tongue.gif

Google has had troubles lately with the open source community.

Oracle only kills projects ( a.k.a. anything Sun made ).

Suns dead, been dead, ain't coming back, means nothing in this world anymore, see above.

does IBM really play a large part in open source software in general?

Suns dead, yes, but this is all time.

IBM has been a leading proponent of the Open Source Initiative, and began supporting Linux in 1998.[57] The company invests billions of dollars in services and software based on Linux through the IBM Linux Technology Center, which includes over 300 Linux kernel developers.
