hello nukefission. ill add you as soon as i can.

to everyone, we have a problem. there is linux club predating ours. I missed it because it doesn't mention linux in the name, instead its called the tux club. the clubs last update by op seems to be about 2 months ago but it does seem to be at least somewhat active, if extremely slow. it is about 4 years old and has 500posts, not much since ours is but a couple of months old and has close to 200. still, it is bigger and predates this one, so im leaving it up to the op of that club to decide what is to be done. i pmed him about the possibilities of merging our threads, or one of us changing the club name and goal to be far enough apart to coexist. possibilities include the gnu club or the unix/linux club, or maybe the foss club or something. he has not pmed me back so for now things are the same, if there is any major change I will be sure to pm everyone to make sure everyone is aware of whats going on. stay tuned for more smile.gif

its kind of funny, considering the general opinion is that nvidia is more linux friendly then amd

Huh, good find. I like that idea of differentiating the clubs a bit.

Just saw that in my slashdot newsletter!

Torvalds is known for criticism rolleyes.gif

It had been my opinion that Nvidia didn't ship good drivers for linux, just existent ones, around the time of Ubuntu 7.04 getting anything linux working on my integrated Ati laptop was impossible (Obviously that's turning around a bit with the open sources AMD drivers). Nvidia likely doesn't play nice with the openness of the Linux community and it causes problems when trying to make drivers that work better.

Speaking of nvidia problems tongue.gif

Not a clue, I'll post again if I come up with anything.

The name for the new club will be [echo "The `uname`club"] any ways after being reminded of it in a thread here, I finally dist-upgraded my mint 12 system to mint 13. can't wait for debian 7.0 wheee.gif . also on side note you know who sucks the big one?? eastlink (all two of the other nova scotians on ocn know what im taking about) we keep having these Internet problems, and of chros its always 'your hard ware' we've spent like $300 doller on these routors cause they say its broken when later I gave them to a friend and he said the work fine with bell madsmiley.png it isnt like the states here, we have but two isp for all of ns- bell, or eastlink who in which we've already bundled our cable and phone and internet with. jealoussmiley.gif competently off topic, but sometimes you got to rant to someone.
