An older ISO IIRC, but it was about a year ago now.

I should stress, don't do what I did! You'd cause more problems than you'd solve doing that. I just had another ISO laying about and was feeling lazy.

I figured out my problem, upon looking in my Xorg log I noticed a whole bunch of errors in var/log/Xorg.0.log. Turns out I installed nvidia 331 and there is a known bug with these drivers of the problem I was having. Uninstalled 331 and went to 304xx and it boots no problem. Do I just have to wait until new drivers are put out or can I go up from 304?
Should be able to run 319 without many problems if the bugs are only in 331 ( I've been on 319 and no issues ).

Are you getting that off of AUR or directly off of the NVIDIA website? They have 325 on the NVIDIA website as well, just don't know how to install it.

Can someone explain this time stuff to me, I have totally confused myself. This computer is dual booting Windows 8.1, so I followed the Arch wiki, set Arch up to be UTC and hacked Windows 8.1 to use UTC as well. I then installed NTP which works if I right click on the clock in the lower right corner and click adjust date and time. If I unselect and reselect Set date and time automatically it wil sync, but when I restart it goes five hours behind. The output of timedatectl status says NTP is not enabled, so I am assuming that is the issue, but the arch wiki isn't clear on how to activate it. I guess I should set it up to be a server since Windows 8 will be using it too?
Code:
[dan@arch_desktop ~]$ timedatectl status
Local time: Sat 2014-01-18 04:21:47 EST
Universal time: Sat 2014-01-18 09:21:47 UTC
        Timezone: n/a (EST, -0500)
     NTP enabled: no
NTP synchronized: no
 RTC in local TZ: no
      DST active: no

So, my best guess after trolling through my own /var/log/Xorg.0.log (which didn't list any errors as far as I could tell) is that there is some bug between Audacious and either Xorg and/or KDE. From the rendering glitch in all DE/WMs I've tried, to being a massing RAM hog with Kwin as WM or a massive CPU hog with openbox as WM something went wrong with the latest version that I have access to in Kubuntu13.10. Still, can't figure out why it only occurs on my Nvidia based desktop and not on my Intel based laptop.

All I know is Wayland better be all it's cracked up to be and Nvidia better be hot on supporting it or I'm going to be very sad.

I think it might be a kde-gtk issue as it seems to happen with GTK apps opened. I have only noticed this on my Nvidia systems. Seems there's a history with Xorg not liking Nvidia when I tried Googling it. I'll check if the xorg memory leak is a time based thing...or if it's a GTK related issue. Either way it doesn't really matter that much with me having 12GBs of RAM but it still annoys me as it sometimes slows things down slightly. Plus, it's just annoying knowing there's a bug.

If X is taking up tons of memory, try running xrestop (I don't believe it is installed by default anywhere). It will show all the memory used by applications to store their pixmaps, and may show where your memory leak is.

In my experience, it's usually a web browser. (Chromium being the worst).
