I did do the full installation, the option that warns you about installing 7.8+ GB of software. The reason it's in a VM though is because that's my Windows machine. I'm not interested in using Grub or LiLO to just boot Windows when I get bored with the distro in a week or so.

Convenience, usually. I'd rather run OSs inside a virtual machine than reboot every time I want to switch platforms

Although on the rare occasion that I boot Windows it is from Lilo, apps like EBCD can boot Linux from the Windows bootloader.

Understood. However with the exception of work networks where VMs, and lots of them, are huge, on a home and/or play PC, although they keep getting better, it is still something like comparing a Flight Sim to actually getting in a plane and heading up into the sky or taking a shower while wearing a raincoat. It's just personal preference but one worth a couple minutes of reboot time to me, so I like to poll other peoples' preferences to monitor trends.

I use it for trying out an OS, easier to just delete it's virtual HDD then make a new one. Plus then when i break it i don't need to worry about my whole computer not working. I also run a personnel webserver from a VM.

Logically you'd be right, but Ive found DAWs on Windows performs better on a VM in Linux than running Windows on bare metal.

Obviously this is highly anecdotal, but my point is that it's worth considering VMs even on consumer hardware.

Frankly I don't care whether it is anecdotal or not, it is indeed a valid point and one of the reasons I like to poll. Despite the fact that computers run on binary logic, there are often random or quirky results that seem to come with complexity. Running a DAW in a Linux VM of Windows may lend the lower latency of audio (and mouse) systems in Linux to the windows application. The reverse of this seems to be true with Graphics drivers, an important differentiation.
