I see nobody want to date them selves. LOL

Okay, my first linux was in 2000. I was 30. and yes I was using a computer before their was a linux and even a Microsoft. Started way back in 82. When children had to walk to school in on hot pointy rocks ( it never snows in California) uphill both ways. and to use our computers we had to invent them, and then make our own electricity with a bicycle and and old car alternator.
Damn I'm getting old.

Both laptops in my house run Fedora exclusively. My desktop and current HTPC (soon to be replaced with an RPI) run OpenSUSE while my RPI has raspbian on it.

I want to say my first taste of Linux was when I was 14 or so. PCLinuxOS because I couldn't afford windows for my first computer build. I'm 22 now.

lol you youngsters, I remember getting my first slide rule and thinking this technology could never be surpassed. tongue.gif

Nar I joke, I'm younger than yourself, but not by a whole lot. I think my first computer was in the mid 80s but it was definitely a BASIC driven personal computer.
As for my first exposure to Linux, I think that was around 2000 as well. I know around that sort of time I was running Win2k, Win95 (compatibility reasons, though -thankfully- I rarely ever used it), BeOS and Linux. And I think it was Slackware too - though I was distro hopping a lot back then. I'd ran Redhat, SuSE (back when it was still capitalised like that) and then settled on Mandrake for a little bit before switching back to Slackware for a few years.

Wow, thats impressive. I wouldn't thought an 8 year old could have handled a linux distro from that time. What did you run? Mandrake? Debian? Slack?

Mandrake was first first love wubsmiley.gif

I grew up with a family of `hackers` so it was pretty easy tongue.gif

Also built my first computer not long after that as well.
