MBR was more like i was referring to, but info on both would be appreciated

When I lost access to windows because of grub. I used my XP install disk to repair the boot sector and MBR. I ran fixboot and fixmbr. This wiped any install of grub I had off the 1st drive in my system (XP64) and allowed me to boot into windows again. It might not have been the most ideal way to recover but it got me back into windows without loss to my XP system. I'd wiped my linux drive clean (reformatted NTFS) and grub wasn't too happy when the OS it was expecting went MIA.

ew, why stable? (unless it's for a server) tongue.gif

why not? wheezy will be out in a couple of months if that anyway, the waits not going to kill anyone and the testing install media didn't install for me, so with release so close I figured i'd wait for the official release notes before upgrading. it worked before without problems, but a months wait itst going to hurt.

Hey anyone here know of some good programs for overclocking that work on linux? Also my motherboard doesn't have anything in the bios so it has to be software.

If your bios doesn't have OCing options, then you probably shouldn't be overclocking.

Better to cry about not being able to overclock than to cry when you blow up your netbook and can't afford a new one. wink.gif

unless you want to burn down your house or be out one computer I suggest trying a lighter distro / DE and some lighter programs ahead of trying to overclock a netbook
