Lol, airplane mode.

I am aware of the airplane mode switch. I tried that several times already. (I thought that I had turned it off for the screenshot, but apparently not.)

I have also disconnected the network cable and rebooted, but still makes no difference. (With Airplane Mode OFF of course.) Still no WiFi.

Any suggestions?

I got a question.

I recently reinstalled W7 on my desktop due to an HDD crash. And now, I can't set up the network between my desktop and the netbook (Ubuntu 12.04). Nothing was changed on the netbook, and only the desktop was changed.

I get "Unable to mount location // Failed to retrieve list from server" when trying to access the "Windows Network" from the explorer equivalent.

What do?

EDIT: I could see the Aspire One in my network, and vice versa. Moving data was just as easy. I don't know what enabled/disabled and broke it. :\

EDIT 2: Used this tutorial; http://www.liberiangeek.net/2012/03/filesharing-in-windows-7-and-ubuntu-12-04-precise-pangolin/, got it working.

Eh...I hate being in college and university. Why? Because to get textbook stuff I always seem to be forced into stupid Windows. Bought one "study guide" to my text book this weekend and didn't read the damn fine print and forgot how, like the entertainment industry, the textbook industry is all about DRM. For the first time in months booted into Windows and for the first time ever; installed Silverlight. I cried myself to sleep last night.

Sorry for a pointless bump but this is just a general question:

Is it a bad idea to create symbolic links in /run/shm (aka tmpfs) for some program executables? I currently did it with Chrome and now it's pretty much as fast as the real ramdisk version I have in windows.

Linux is great! And now it's even greater. I have a need for running Windows for photo editing tasks. Many will probably use Windows for gaming.

I'm now running Windows on top of Linux with full video acceleration! I can switch between Linux and Windows and back at the push of a button (not the reset button). Both Linux and Windows are running concurrently.

I'm using Linux on a Xen hypervisor with VGA passthrough. If it sounds complicated, it is! But it's totally worth the effort.

Here a teaser for Windows performance under Linux (Xen hypervisor):

My Linux box we belly up a few weeks back but flavors of *nix I've used in the past:

Mandrake (x86) p133
Solaris 8 (Sun Sparc Ultra 30)
Various generations of Free BSD (x86 hardware) Athlon 32bit
Gentoo (x86) Athlon 32bit
Open Solaris (x86) Athlon 32bit
CentOS(x86) Athlon 32bit

I dabble on various Solaris boxes at work

As soon as I finish my next main rig my current home rig will migrated to something Nix like just not sure what I'll run next.
