Know Switch - Need help with Brand

Thread Starter
After a good deal of reading I am going to get MX Browns for my first Mechanical. I see a lot of love for Reds as well, but I use my computer for a mix of gaming and typing, and to be honest, I highly doubt going for blacks/reds is going to help my gaming. I'm not that good.

Price isn't a big deal as I don't see a huge difference between $80-$150 since I'm keeping this long term.

Any recommendations on a high quality board? I'm thinking tenkeyless as I don't really need a number pad, but if it's there, that is fine.

Hmm. I'm liking the Leopold look overall. Are the red caps actually covers or full keys? Stupid question maybe, but it's better to ask a stupid question then spend ~$30. I can solder, but I don't want to mess with it.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see the key cap pulling tool. $5 isn't bad at all.

Yes, the keys can be removed/replaced with new keys as you see fit. One of the many perks of a mechanical keyboard. Makes cleaning really simple. And yes, I recommend you pick up a keycap puller!

If you're interested you can check out wasdkeyboards.com for aftermarket keycaps, if that's your thing.

I just received my Leopold a few days ago (mx blues) and I love it.

Yep. The only caps I am going to change are W,A,S,D and ESC. It's possible I will do the SHIFT. CONTROL, and ALT set. I like that look, haha. thumb.gif

I've owned a Das, my girlfriend owns a Ducky Shine, and I currently own a Filco. Go with the Filco.

Are you sure? reading about the Filco listed and it seems to be black switches.
States black in the long paragraph and in a review

I just meant to show it as model. That's why I wrote all in MX Brown. I just can't find that model in brown online but I know they make it. I would wait until I found it if that was the best of the 3. biggrin.gif
