760??

why invest in a dead platfrom? atleast with a 960t or other phenom you can upgrade to pildriver and steamroller in the future with an am3+ mobo.

lets just hope there much better then bulldozer

960t is 123$ so the i3 is 3$ cheaper. And after waiting forever for bulldozer being a AMD fanboy, im not gonna get a AM3+ mobo in hope it might work 1 day.

i'm using currently i5 650 OC 4GHZ it should perform similar if not better than i3 2100.
However my brother has i5 760 and honestly the QUAD CORE is really needed in most games.
Benchmarks might prove it good, but Dual Cores with HT are just crap, you won't be able to max out any games without laging with Dual Core.
Also make sure you got good GPU as well..
@INTEL FANBOYS QUAD Core > DUAL CORE + HT.

95% of the game has yet to utilize quad core. Quad core won't beat dual core + HT if each core is weaker than later. Quad core is not needed for most game.

mATX is fine for budget PC. Something like HD7750 or GTX 460 is more than enough for budget gaming.

the saphire motherboard is fine if your doing 1 gpu. but if your going to do multiple gpu's then it only supports crossfire i think. not sli.

do you remember the phenoms? they sucked, everyone ditched amd for intel and then.....phenom ii. phenom and athlon ii crushed intels lower end and competed as high as the i5 level in the x6s heyday.

just wait. im betting either piledriver or steamroller is another phenom ii
post #20 of 29
True the i3 only has 2 true cores. And the 4 core unlocked Phenoms do provide slightly better gaming performance when overclocked.
Just make sure the mobo supports 125 watt processors and an aftermarket cooler is a must.

That is the downside of the i3...the locked multiplier. But it only sips power at 65 watts TDP
