Want a engine design to draw with solid works.

Hey,

I just had my second class of a subject that teaches us how to use SolidWorks 2012.

We were given a compressor to draw with the 2D drawing of each part and the exploded view.

I did it alright and I found SolidWorks to be really fun.

Now I want to draw a whole engine something like a V8 or V12, but unfortunately I can not find such thing.

Does anyone know where i could find the 2D sketches of an engine so that I can draw it using SolidWorks?

Thanks, - Erick

Google Image Search isn 't good enough?

Just wait until you get to 3D drawing, you'll be amazed!

I've tried using google images, but it doesn't have what i want.

I want the 2D drawings of the engine and each part, so that i can make them using SolidWorks and assembly the whole engine.

Something like this: http://www.john-tom.com/MyPlans/SteamPlans3/Whippet/WhippetSingle10ccModEng1963x.pdf
but for a V shaped engine.

You're not going to find a dimensioned cad drawing of a V8 engine on the interwebs. Such a drawing takes a lot of work to create, would most likely be a " work product" and as such not be public,

You seem to want to "copy" an existing drawing. While SW has an import function, it's not really set up to copy someone else's work.

If your copy is registered, you may find some help on the Dassault forums. Or just ask your instructor.

Yes, I only want a copy of an existing model, to do it my self.

My Professor doesn't really have anything for me to model, he only has drawing that he'll use in the class and he won't share that with me.

I just wanted to have some fun using SW to make some models, but can't find drawings for me to model frown.gif

And my copy is not registered.

Thanks billbartuska
