Makes nice ppd but then you look at the price and want to punch yourself for wasting so much money on an e5 2p lol. My AMD 4p makes as much ppd as a dual e5-2690 rig. It also cost me $1300 total and I'm not even done overclocking yet biggrin.gif

You keep saying the same thing over and over so I will join you:

At least this board fits in a normal sized case. Have you bought a case for your pizza box-sized board yet, or is it still sitting on top of an old Dell?

It's sitting on a dell still ;D. But we've been over this. There are plenty of cases my board fits in. It'd be borderline insane to buy an e5 xeon setup for 3x as much just because it doesn't fit in your average case (which btw this Asus board doesn't fit in most cases either...). That is the only thing you've successfully held over me and my 4p lol. "It won't fit in any [this isn't true and you know it] case." Sounds like somebody grasping for straws hardcore.

BTW I'm working on a custom test bench to put it up high in on a shelf in the garage.

There's also a chart on the full review on their website. Too bad they didn't do bigadv so we could compare... I don't think we have any numbers for 2687w's but we can predict based on the 2690's.

Dual-Xeon-E5-2690-Folding-Results.png

edit: for reference my 4p gets on average (it fluctuates a lot based on many variables...) 18min 15sec tpf's and as low as 17min 45sec tpfs on 6903's

This only counts if you're one of the lucky VERY VERY FEW people who can get their hands on them. It's not like there's auctions for them daily or even weekly....

It's the only thing I've even attempted to hold over you. The Asus board is SSI EEB I think, which is physically the same size as EATX but perhaps not all of the screw holes will line up. That's a bit different from SWTX, where a good portion of the board extends above the backplane IO. I never said that there's no cases that fit it (though there aren't many, seeing as how Supermicro is the only board maker who makes SWTX boards.)

There must not be very many good options, either, otherwise you would have purchased one so you could avoid having this conversation over and over.

SSI EEB is the same size as EATX and the edge holes line up but the center holes (around the cpu brackets where you mount the heavy heatsinks tongue.gif) don't line up. I also don't own a case yet because I'm intent on designing my own. I have certain needs and I would like to spend very little on it....
