I have had many of each but until AMD steps it up all they will be is the budget processor. Period. My 2 year old I5 still keeps up with a heavily clocked 8120 in all but the most core intensive of tasks. Actually for gaming, general use its a fair bit faster. Dont believe me do some reading. Theres a reason the nickname FAILDOZER stuck. Cause it failed. I really hope AMDs piledriver bring em back into the game I would love to build another AMD system.

And no, 8120 isn't on par with 2600k bro, 2600k is a lot better.
Phenom ii x6 is even faster than 8120
WEI? are you kidding me? Noobness at its finest.

you have obviously never used an 8120 so im not gonna respond to you anymore.... and its 8 LEGIT cores.

It's not legit 8 cores. AMD even say that, I can't be bothered to google it so you can if you really want to find out more.

8 integer cores to be precise. In tradition a core has an integer core, a FPU unit, scheduler and its own decoder.

bulldozer_031.jpg

FPU unit deals with mathematics computation. That's why you see Bulldozer has very low mathematics performance in BOINC/Folding.

I love AMD, but no, it doesn't have 8 cores in the traditional sense.  Take a look at the architecture:

JYBut.pngEvwHL.jpg

You have 8 integer cores, but they aren't as powerful as a core has been historically.  A large part of that is because they have a shared FPU.  The two integer cores and shared FPU constitute one Bulldozer module.  A single Bulldozer module is more akin to a hyperthreaded Intel core than each integer core is to a core.

Why does every thread that mentions BD spawn some huge argument? (or go totally off topic)

I'd recommend getting a 10xxT. 1090's are getting a bit scarce, but the 1055T performs just as well - mentioned those two because i'm assuming oc'ing will happen. Or any other 10xx, just mentioned those two off the top of my head really.

Sure, the 6100 can be had anywhere from $135-160 new if you know where to find it, but just have to weigh what you want.
