The specs listed in my sig rig are tentative (I'll acquire them soon), so I'd be upgrading from an E6600 to Sandy or Ivy. My only concern is the chipset.

I would say this will probably be the main reason for SB rig owners who upgrade to Z77.

I also understand that the PCIe 3.0 will not matter when using current gen cards. If anyone has reviews that shows this, I would be interested in seeing them, though.

Most of the z68 mobos have pcie 3.0, that includes the maximus iv gene-z/gen3

other then some extra sata/usb3 ports, nothing much. either get an sb now or buy a z68 board +place holder celeron and wait for ivy.

Yea you would mostly upgrade for E-Peen.

Lucid Virtu MVP
More Sata 3 ports
More Memory bandwidth potential.
E-PEEN
E-PEEN

and did i mention E-Peen?
Small wonder.

Ivy imo is for people still on 1156 and 1366. With that said I may still end up getting it because I want a hyperthreaded chip but day to day stuff even gaming I highly doubt you notice a difference between the two platforms.

Now obviously Ivy will be better and bench higher but 5-15% doesn't scream neccessary upgrade to me especially as a gamer.

Ivy is coming out this month. If you held out this long just wait to the 29th
