Like an above post says,
I highly recommend the BenQ XL2410T/XL2420T because those (despite BenQ's complicated history with monitors) are great for both 3D and gaming. If you're a little short on money try to pick up a 2410t. otherwise, the 2420t has the whole lightboost 3d thing which really brightens up 3d imagery. 120hz even while not in 3d mode is great and I find that with vsync on games work wonderfully, running at 120-125fps to hit the max potential of the monitor.

Oh, and the XL2420T looks like pure sex.

Well I can tell you right now that I have had 60 hz monitors and 120 hz monitors with no visual difference. The 60 hz I recommended happened to be better due to less input lag, which is something that 120 hz and MS have nothing to do with.

Anyone who is trying to sell you on 120 hz being much better never had a good 60 hz monitor in the first place. I can't give factual data because you would need some crazy equipment and it also comes down to the human eye, so I can only tell you from experience.

I would say ideally in person testing is one of the best ways to go about this, not reading user comments.

Don't go that "the human eye" way.
For the millionth time, the human eye does not see "frames per second". Even if it did, it would've been able to see everything from 60 to 500 fps.

Also, what are you using your monitor for? 2D Movies? 120Hz = Useless. Browsing? Useless. Pictures? Useless.
Gaming is in reality the only thing you gain, other than 3D for movies. Oh, and just to be sure, have you ever tried it in a game where you have over 60FPS?
To be honest, if you don't notice the difference between 60Hz to 120Hz, you should seriously get your eyes checked. It's impossible to not notice the difference. I'm not trying to flame you, but seriously..

I have 100+ games on my PC, most of them new. I can run almost any game at 120 FPS on my system with the exception of games like Crysis 2 ect which only run at 60~. The 120 Hz monitor I had was the Acer GD235HZbid, which I sold months ago because I was happier with my old Acer G24, though not for speed reasons, more color, no text bluring due, and resolution/aspect ratio. This isn't the monitor I'm comparing it to though, the one I am referring to is the ASUS VE247H, which has no visual ghosting or lagging that I can notice, even compared to a game running at over 120 FPS ( like RE5 for example ). Not only that but for HDMI connections it was better because input lag was non-existent. I play competitive fighting games so this is EXTREMELY important to me. One frame of input lag can actually be a big difference because there are already other forms of lag in addition to that. I realize that's not running at 120 hz but the point is even when I was running at 120 hz a nice 60 hz monitor looks visually the same. I certainly don't see the price being worth it right now unless you intend to use it for 3D, which to me is the selling point of 120hz monitors.

That's fine if you don't believe me or something, what can I really say to prove it? Nothing. Just my opinion / experience on the matter. I have no doubts that 120 hz monitors look better than 99% of the 60 hz monitors out there, but I just think there is more too it than just that.

I'm not sure how anyone could come to this conclusion unless they were legally blind.

The difference between even 60 to 75, to 90 or 120hz is massive when dealing with fast motion. There is a reason high level competitive players stuck to CRT's and now (still, reluctantly) 120hz LCD's...

I believe you, there are people I know that can't see the difference between 480p and HD (either 720/1080) even when I has switched between both they say " a little clearer I think, but I don't see the big difference) It happens some people can't taste food, others are color blind. I make it a point to not doubt people on what they say because they can think and know differently based on their own experiences. I always make it a point to do my best and test things out before I buy them.

My 5870 can't really push high FPS at the games I play, for me to take advantage of 120hz. I'm more than happy with my TV and two monitors at 60hz especially since I got them from from $77 for the VH242H (open box NO dead pixels and mint) and $113 for the VE258Q (one dumb sub pixel that impedes one single pixel from producing pure red but all other colors are fine and can't be noticed unless you're in an all red screen). I know i was lucky, but if the OP wants to take his chances Newegg's open boxes can be great deals or huge let downs.

Here I check this everyday when I wake up, before I go to work, when I get home from said work, and before bed:

Not for me necessarily but for friends mostly.
