As I has said countless times its a good proccesser but not as good. He doesnt NEED an i5 the 1090t is fine so is the 960 but he would definatley see a few frames and 100 percent gpu usage from an i5. I actualy KNOW this unlike you as I have had all 3 personally and tried them in all my games.
Oh and btw op take that up to 4ghz you will see a small improvment.

let me repeat to you . . .op only has a 6870.

That makes it even worse btw you do know that, this is showing us the 1090t even holds back a low grade card like the 6870 nevermind the new series tongue.gif

No, it doesn't rolleyes.gif

The 1090T can quite happily push 2x 6950's, or 3x5850s. I know this first-hand, as I have owned them.

In Crysis, both those setups were pushed to almost 99% usage.

We don't know what resolution the OP is playing at. That would help to form some kind of opinion on what is happening. If the 6870s memory is getting over-worked, then no matter how much data the 1090T can throw at it, it won't be able to fully utilise itself thumb.gif

The 1090t at 4ghz would only let me get 60-80 percent in Starcraft 2 with my 6970 so no it cant push two 6950s. Yes it can run two 6950s but we obviously have different definitions of pushing cards. It wont push cards to there limit but it will run them and for the average gamer thats more than enough.

i have tons of games and i always do gpuz logs and core temp logs

every game is very different how it uses gpu and cpu, so less gpu use does not mean anything

also vsync reduces a lot the gpu load

nice info

I dont even get 100% gpu usage on SC2 with my system. That game is just very cpu intensive. I promise you, that phenom II is NOT bottlenecking that 6870. I never had any bottleneck with my 2 5850s a single 580 on either a 965 @ 3.75 ghz or my 1090T@ 4ghz.
Meh I really cba going to the trouble of making a video just to show you that it does infact hold back even 1 card. But trust me it does. It really really does, it held back my recent 580 in many titles.
But ye sorry a bit more on topic little bottleneck could just be the game tho as others have said. No point in upgrading to a better cpu with a graphics card like that. They are about on par a 1090t with a 6870 but if you ever move up in the cards world get a better cpu.
op, it's to be a setting in your gpu. if you have AB installed it might be conflicting with CCC.

here is proof that your cpu will not bottleneck your single 6870 . . .

Keep in mind that for a GPU to reach 100%, the software running on that GPU would need to know exactly what that GPU is capable of in every front, core speed, shaders, texture units, memory capacity and bandwidth, etc.

This would mean that a game would have to have a profile of every graphics card at every setting or run some sort of profiler before it loads.

Since most games just rely on DirectX and aren't optimized, it's going to be hard for a game to make 100% usage of all components on every single level of GPU form iGPU to Quad-SLI or Quad-Fire.

80-90% GPU usage in a game that isn't optimized for a specific hardware set is pretty decent if you ask me. If you were dropping below 80% for sustained periods of time then I would start to worry.

Also keep in mind that many recent games are much more CPU-limited at 1080p or lower.
