So i've got a guy who will trade me his evga 7900 gt ko 256mb for my ati x1800xt 512mb, we plan to ship cards out tomorrow. I just want to make sure this is a good deal. From specs, reveiws it looks like a good deal, just want to know from you experts. Also, my mobo is a8n32, and i think an nvidia card would be much better for the board. let me know guys, will rep for good answers. im also lookin to see what these cards benchmark so if you have any ideas, shoot em this way

At first glance.. trading a 256mb card for a 512mb card seems ify at best. However, I've always been a fan of nVidia. I'd say if the specs are similar and the reviews are comperable, do it.

yea, specs look about the same. Plus nvidia is better for playing fear, and thats my fav game. Im not quite sure, but i think nvidia card would work better with my mobo due to the nforce4 chipset on the a8n32 asus mobo.

No, don't do it. That would be retarted to trade a 512 meg card for 256 and hdr+aa is a no. You WILL beat fear. Did you think about after you do?

I have the 7900 GT SC. Now, personally I think this would be a great deal on one condition. You get an aftermarket HSF and volt mod the card. Doing that you can get 650+ on the core, and a substantial increase on the memory. If you are not comftorable doing that, I would just stay with what you have, as the extra 256 ram will be helpfull in later more complex games. Also, ATI= HDR + AA!

EDIT: One more thing to note, the stock HSF on that card is crap, even though it is the KO version. Should you choose to do some serious overclocking you will need to drop ~35 on a new HSF.
