Agreed, but I will hold-off buying a new generation card until I see DX12 support on any of these cards. Meanwhile my 480s will still handle everything I throw at them quite well until DX12 begins to saturate the market better. (when it eventually comes out rolleyes.gif)

I keep waiting for the next thing all the time, this summer I'll get a 680 and register to step up. If the new card comes out before the program is over ill upgrade, if not, I wont bother.

Why would a card, this early in production be released to 3rd party vendors, i.e. MSI? And if it's just for attention, I might go and make one of these up every time a new graphics card is released. Just make a couple guesses and the internet believes.
only 20-25% over GTX680 is a joke, 680s can already be overclocked 20+% pretty regularly, and even though scaling might not be 1:1 (at least not right now) that easily eats into that difference.

Last rumor I saw was that GK110 would have at least 50% more of everything over GK104, so unless GK110 in turn is designed to be a monster compute chip, 20-25% faster performance would be a huge bummer, I'm expecting at least 50% if clock speeds are the same.

alright i see it now:
amd rolls out 8xxx series
nvidia counters with their "new top-end" card the gtx 780
gtx 680 finally takes up its true $300-350 price point.

If they get 33% more cuda-cores, and clock it at 800 mhz, then it will have 25% more shading performance than a 680, but graphics never scales that well.

The gtx 680 is high-end now, the high cost of 28nm is probably part of the pricing along with AMDs move to higher prices.
