What to buy, What To Buy!?!?

Alright, I got my check and I can finish my sig rig. I wanted to get a GTX 680, but, I'm not going to wait until May doh.gif, just to try to buy one and get shut out again. PLUS, my wife would probably spend the money if I tried to So my choices are the GTX 580 or an AMD 7000, but what to get??? Since I am not going with the 680, I wanted a 3GB model.

Looking at Newegg, there are a few that catch my eye straight away.

GIGABYTE GV-R797OC-3GD Radeon HD 7970 3GB thumb.gif

MSI R7970-2PMD3GD5/OC Radeon HD 7970 3GB biggrin.gif

EVGA 03G-P3-1595-AR GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) Classified ULTRA kungfu.gif

Also, I was looking at Tom's and thinking about the 560 TI(448 cores) in SLI? winksmiley02.gif

I don't know!

If someone knows where there is a 7970 Lightning drool.gif on sale for a reasonable price, I'd probably just get that immediately, currently it's sold out on Newegg.

Thanks for helping and your time!

I would advise against the 580, especially on that price.
Simple comparisson with 680 reveals why: 500 shaders @1500Mhz vs 1500 shaders @2000Mhz.

And all new-age cards are cheaper.
Here's a suggestion:

i vote for 2x GTX 560 Ti 448 cores. the zotac version gets two copies of BF3... you can sell those and yet make money lol(if you already got the game)... good luck choosing the right ones for you.

Don't understand why would you want a 7970 when the 680 outperforms it slightly at a slightly lower price.

Noooooo just hold out a little longer the gtx 680 twin frozr is set to be out just after next week, its what I have been holding out for - non reference 680. The 7950 is hardly even better than a 580 =/ a 680 would have been a huge jump.

there is nothing to indicate that the TFIII 680 is not a reference card, other than the cooler.

I got the Twin Frozr from Amazon, so I do have some time to cancel the order. It won't be here until the 26th at the earliest. Where did you get the info about the Twin Frozr being released in two weeks?? I'd love to read it! I don't really care too much if it's reference or non reference, non reference would be a plus, but I really want to cooler cause I'm building on air.

I'll probably cancel the order now and wait, I thought the twin frozr wouldn't be around for another two months and I didn't want to wait that long. Two weeks is nothing!

Thanks
