sticking with windows 7,nothing wrong with it so dont see the need to change.
I may buy it.

Mods I would do to it:

-Change it so it loads into "Desktop" upon startup

-Change it so it auto-logs in

-Use Stardocks Start8 (Mini metro) start menu

- Install Rocketdock to launch my PROGRAMS. (apps? seriously?)

After some thinking about it, by doing these changes doesn't it then become Windows 7 again?

Pro's for Windows 8:

New Filesystem
New Kernal feature for boot up
and...?

Con's:
Full screen programs - GOOD for tablets, BAD for desktop = trapped/claustrophobic = reduces ability to mutlitask

No.

I tired it and I don't like it, also I don't like the Mobile 7.5 on phones. 8 isn't good for PCs...

I don't understand why you people refuse to upgrade to Windows 8 because the Start menu is now fullscreen with a metro look rather than a menu that pops up. Seriously?

Because a start menu that pops up gives a lot more options to use the interface, you have the menu, the task bar and the desktop to put links to your programs and you can organize them quickly and easily so you can get to all of them fast. In windows 8 I end up with a huge slab of programs and I can't just come in and immediately see what it is that I'm looking for on that window. It's much easier to have steam, chrome and word etc on the task bar which I use frequently so I can get to them in seconds. Then anything else is neatly and intuitively arranged in the start menu.

So much of this, and of everything related to this point in previous posts.
A desktop computer and/or normal laptop is NOT and should never be a tablet. We have tablets for that, for crying out loud...

I'll be happy to use Windows 8 if they strip the entire tablet-esque GUI off of it and use a true sleek shell that really uses little memory without all the fancy crud.. I was hoping it'd become like that but they went with "fashion" instead.

Ahwell, Windows 7 is fine for as long as it'll last.

I'll be using it, but I won't be buying it because I can obtain copies through my workplace.

just found this thread.. but want to chime in

I think the OS is pretty decent so far, i'm in it just now.

I like that there is an 'Up' button on the windows
I like Metro, but it needs tweaking, too sensitive when you reach for the 'back' button, comes up with your other running programs.
I like getting Luna new 'clothes' a wee change.. soo glad to have Ubuntu 12.04 x64 running ATM but i kept hitting a wall with what i wanted to do, so i stuck Vista SP2 on*.

If the price is right, ill buy it, hopefully the talk about no 'editions' will happen and you'll get 'desktop' and 'server'.. just checked: only 3 editions, that's more like it! now if they sell for £50 and £100 i'll buy, even for the PC games meets Xbox feature, ..all my friends are on Xbox*.

About the expose/gestures thing, Mac got it not bad, i haven't tried it in Lion but I've got SnoLeo and it's okay. Ubuntu's Unity bar swipe, once adjusted in the settings, is the best so far, spot on, Metro just needs tweaking IMHO.

Dava

*looong story involving Win7 BSOD's ..what's a 'CPU POINT FAULT' anyway?? re-installing soon, i'll chuck in XP too for a laugh.
*need to read up more about it though, if it is what i think it is :-)
