No, I believe that windows 8 will be an "open beta" for a newer version, perhaps windows 9. Just like vista for win7. Oh and the app store thing is ridiculous, please Microsoft don't go the apple way

I will buy and probably dual-boot. I'm happy with Win7 as my main OS for some time, but I can't honestly say until I've got my hands on a retail copy of Win8.

New things, good or bad, intrigue me.

No, as I find little reason to upgrade. If they focus it at tablets, I simply won't buy it. I find no reason why I should buy it - I wouldn't use it if they where giving it out for free.IMO a lot of it seems like a step back. I generally don't mind being one generation behind, especially if it's the 'good' generation. Windows 7 is well supported and I see no reason to 'upgrade.'

One thing that would make me buy windows 8 is if the rumors out it playing 360 games are true, since halo 4 need system reqs these rumors are most likely true also i was wondering if anyone could tell me which programs you need to run 2 OS's on one computer

Just popping back in to say, while I have actually found the Windows 8 experience to be pretty decent - for the most part - that opinion completely changed the minute I put Win8 on a laptop. Using a touchpad on Win8 is an exercise in abject frustration. I'm not one of those people to carry every peripheral I own when I actually go mobile with my laptop, and all that scrolling, scrolling, scrolling and charm-hunting just makes it not worth even trying to be productive out on the back deck. I don't see how it would improve any with a touchscreen, having to bring your hands off the keyboard just isn't an experience I am interested in.

I had a feeling the angst over Metro would subside once people actually tried using it, and that the benefits of "one OS for every device" would outweigh the drawback of 'unlearning' the way we've done things for nearly 20 years, but now that I've tried it in the scenarios I'm most likely to use, I realize that somehow Microsoft has delivered a unified OS that feels completely disjointed everywhere you use it.

All I can say now is, I hope Linux steps up its game to capture the market share Microsoft is preparing to just give them.

No. In my personal opinion there was and is nothing wrong with windows 7. I like using windows 7 and feel that windows 8 falls under the "tock" of the tick-tock cycle.I'm actually rushing out to buy 3-4 non OEM copy's of windows 7 so I won't ever have to muck with 8. Tried the "beta" and it make me sick.
