I'm not buying it because from what I have used with Metro, I don't like it. It's too clunky for a mouse/keyboard. Maybe if I get a touchscreen I'll switch, or if MS actually listens to its users and will allow people to disable Metro.

No because it seems as if the Metro UI is going to be forced upon us and I hated using it in the beta. If it was easily turned off then maybe, but at the same time I like windows 7 and don't see a need to move away from 7.

Not a fan of the tablet-centric, diminished ARM-friendly nature of this OS. And I don't want to pander to the desktops-are-a-thing-of-the-past movement.

What do people mean by "turn of Metro UI".

There is no start button, metro is the start button. Unless you want to be forced to use shortcuts for Everything, you can't disable it.

I'm happy they are trying something different, because really...what else could windows 8 be...a more refined windows 7...Boring. Yeah, windows 8 might suck, but hey at least they are trying. It's the same reason I like Linux, It's considerably changing at a rapid pace....keeps things interesting. People are still using XP, so there isn't anything forcing someone to move to it that doesn't want to or see the need to.

If I wanted to use an OS that looks like it belongs on a tablet, I'd be using a tablet. I'm on a desktop, so I'm sticking with 7.

Yes, i'm quite happy with the change that windows 8 brings. I'm currently running 8 on my home desktop, work desktop, and laptop. Once it goes RTM i'm definitely upgrading!
