Win 8 is not for my PC but for my Tablet,Win 8 sucks for me!
i already have the consumer preview edition...had to get it because vista isn't supported by my motherboard (usb 3...pcie 3 etc) and the preview edition was free. So I'm getting it by default. I like 7 better, but the startup times for 8 is incredible...it is like 8 seconds. It is not bad...but it is hard to navigate.

I voted no, based on the dev preview I tried. I would prefer 7 to the new interface.

NO WAY NONONONO, I tried windows 8 quite a few minths ago through the dev preveiew, i tried one of the earlier versions of it nd it wasn't that bad, then i went to reinstall it on my laptop and the disc had a scratch ring so i had to re-download the latest version which was ******* HORRIBLE anyway, i've seen screenshots of the latest version and it doesn't look too bad, but then i remembered having to navigate to C:\Windows\System32 for thigns as basic as paint and notepad, just cant go without the start menu. I will admit that the boot times and performance were quite alot better, but there's no point of a quick boot if everything else takes 5x as long, can only see win 8 as a viable options on tablets, or for perople who dont use any 3rd party software and therefore everything will work 100%

No.

I find no value in that operating system for normal "PC" use. The main gripe, metro, is obviously geared towards touch enabled devices and I believe it should not be forced upon non-touch device owners. The removal of the start button is an example of that "force". Leaving the ability to enter a normal "desktop" environment is another example of that "force". It's a way to bring over users with the believe that they have an option to choose their environment, when in reality its just a place holder to ease people in. At least that is just my opinion. The operating system appears to be the first step to a completely new direction. It is a way to move the masses over, slowly. Will it work? I have no idea. The problem lies with the fact that we as a enthusiast community do not need unity amongst our devices. If anything we strive not to have unity as brings out the unique personality in each individual.

All I wanted was an upgraded version to 7 (if anything). Keep 7 mindset and add features, then I would have been glad to hand out another 50-100 bucks.

Yes. Well, I voted yes.

No.

Why? I got it for free. Pro version. Go College!

But why pay for it? It's the new system. It's really not that much money, and all future systems will be somewhat based on it. No matter how much a few old nerds complain, this interface is here to stay. My suggestion is to download the release preview and use it for several days in a row. Of course it takes some getting used to. All new systems do. It does everything much quicker than 7, and it's a modern interface. I mean, come on. We were using the same basic interface since windows 95. Move on, people

I'm certain I'll buy a laptop and get stuck with it at some point. However, I won't go quietly into the good night. I've done a bit of testing at work (I'm in charge of a Windows 8 pilot program for tablets) and it's fine, however I find certain things counter intuitive.

No matter how many young nerds say they like it I reserve my right to say it's crap. And I have run it for weeks on end so don't even go there. I have no use for a mobile os on my desktop at this point in time, if ever.
It does not do every thing faster than W7. Boots faster though, wow.
