[GamesIndustry] Developers Underwhelmed by Capabilities of Wii U - Page 10

It's a WII! It doesn't need the best graphics, it will always beat consoles in sales because it has made for the whole family and has proper Advertising.
As long as they continue to make outstanding first party games, I don't really care.
I'm not really into the whole tablet controller thing, would much rather they just kept the Wiimote + Nunchuk. Very comfortable to use.
I might not buy it at release like I always have before with Nintendo consoles, but I'm sure I'll end up with one eventually. Maybe 1-3 years after release. They might tempt me with an amazing LoZ or Metroid though.
A few good 3rd party games have creeped out for the Wii, but they have been few and far between and have taken a ton of fan activity to get appropriate companies involved.(The Last Story, Xenoblade, Tales of Graces(albeit its going to PS3 instead)).

price it right, and it will be successful.
i play on the pc, when i want next gen graphics.

I agree with that. Actually planning getting rid of my ps3 and xbox360, but keeping the Wii because of Zelda and the Metroid Prime series.
Of the next consoles, the Wii U is the only one I plan to buy as now of days you can get almost any game on a PC that you could get on the ps3 or xbox 360.

I personally thought the skyward sword was one of the first games that could really do with better hardware. Everything that is up close is okay but in a slight distance looks blurry. Imagine a zelda game with assassins creed type castles and lighting.

And you cannot nearly get all console games on pc. There are a lot of games that will never see a pc and are amazing.

As I said, almost any game, not all. I am aware of certain games on console, but just to spend a few hundred on a console just for those few games is no longer worth it to me.
At least with Nintendo's next console it won't be a crazy 400-600 dollar console at launch unlike the other two big boys.
And of the Zelda, Mario, and Metroid Series, I don't play them for fancy graphics. I play them to enjoy the solid gameplay they offer.

It would have been nice if Skyward Sword would have had better graphics, but the game would still be roughly the same. If motion sensor technology were actually ready for that type of experience, then the game would have been much better.
When someone demonstrates a way to make games better with more powerful graphics hardware, I'm sure Nintendo will be all over it.

The number of compelling unique experiences that cannot be had on PC are few and far between. The individual games may not be there, but the genre will be well established and you will probably get the best experience with a PC.

I don't know if we'll ever see that though. Zelda is going for a cartoony style; it's not going to be more realistic like Assassin's Creed. Even though they got away from the Wind Waker look, there's still a strong cartoony style to it. Even when Nintendo's systems are capable of photorealism, we're not going to see Link or Mario look like a real person.

Not that Skyward Sword couldn't use more powerful hardware though. It could still benefit from higher resolution, AA, AF, etc.

ok !this isnt a big issue!check wow!it is 1920x1080 with just a simple cheat like going to 1080i(29 actual hertz or like intel like to say 59 double hertz) instead of 1080p your demand for hardware is almost cut in half for pretty much same power, and has wow showed graphic are only part of the story.dx11?aside from limited few title none use it ,same for 64 bit!so with all the small cheat avail that wouldnt affect viewer gaming experience i dont see what the deal would be!ram is inexpensive so it isnt an issue!if nintendo make sure their console dont have bufferbloat and listen to researcher(those that made the web in university ,berkeley icsi for exemple)http://netalyzr.icsi.berkeley.edu/ they would fix 75% of gamer issue they face!if they use the gpu a la arcsoft for exemple they wouldnt need the latest and greatest.so with all these various trick that are just tweak setting i dont see an issue with nintendo way, they go at it the smart way!they feel they can equal all that ms or sony has to offer with less power.so unless ms and sony plan to get rid of bufferbloat, use 1080i instead of 1080p and gpu accelerete everything (like ms did for ie9)(highly doubtfull ,since it would mean competing faction in ms would need to work toguether ,not gona happen)i think nintendo way has merit!but they will need something more!ms made kinect and it impacted everybody ,gameplay isnt smoother ,graphic arent better etc etc etc they just added a hands free control!
maybe if nintendo was to add a relativly inexpensive retina headmounted display?interlaced?could be the hot ticket!could even combine it with tv to aument reality in some unfantomable way?we ll have to wait and see
i sure wish tho that dx11 and 64 bit will be defaulted in next console ,why ?so that we get same capability as computer so dev dont neeed to design one game for one and one game for the other cause people are fed up of subpar console title being ported to computer ,some are good like super monday night combat but other like heroes of newerth are beurk!

What's up with text walls?

Most people here won't bother reading this unless you format it properly.

This kind of epicness happened before, and I have no doubt it will again wink.gif
