Dumb mistake - Page 3

Super long ago lol... with my nf-7s 2.0, mounting them old heatsinks where you have to use a flathead screw driver to get it latched on, was putting too much pressure and my hand slid and the screw driver hit the motherboard putting a scratch on it, good thing it still worked.. that was like one of my first builds lol so i was a noob back then.

Another time was when I had my P5W-DH, not looking I hooked up a fan on the fan header but it wasnt aligned properly and when I turned on the rig it blew a voltage reg and I could smell smoke, motherboard still worked but pretty much killed the fan header.

Nowadays you can pretty much put a rig together as fast as those pit crews but back then I was super careful and still made mistakes rolleyes.gif

Dropped my 5850 w/ FC waterblock - snapped off a cap. Did a (messy) solder / patch job and it still lives, scarred but fighting.

Spent 10 mins trouble shooting why my PC wouldn't power on only to realize that I had plugged in the wrong power cord doh.gif

Recent brain fart - reseating my i7 860 I took it out and hit the roof; all the pins had fallen off! eek.gif Took me a while to remember that 1156 CPUs don't have pins, they are in the socket thumb.gif
