Also he said the Clovertown can be drop into either a LGA775 or 2 sockets mobo. While Kentsfield cannot, this doesn't mean that it is 2 physical CPU in a Dual Socket Motherboard.

You should read his post a bit more. He is saying that the Xeon can be in either socket not 2 "Physical Core"
I dont see how that CPU-Z tells me anything different. Processor 1, a cloverton CPU (4 cores) is one physical CPU, with 4 processor cores. Processor 2, is one physical CPU, with 4 processor cores. Thus, it is a 2 physical processor solution. Am I missing something here. It seems to me from the above that he has a server board with two CPU sockets, and has a cloverton CPU in each socket.

Thread Starter
Here is what I concluded.
The guy isn't lieing, because
A. I know some processors that haven't had writing on their IHS before, and no, didn't look like the processor IHS has been scraped or cut to hide the lettering.
B. It's a really old processor because it has a bad OCing stepping. (can't manage more than 2.66). Crappy Pre-Production stepping like most ES processors you will find from intel.
C. It could actually be an ES processor, because some ES processors (expecially pre-ES processor releases) have locked multi's.
D. It's probably not a Kentsfield, but better, because it was made with dual CPU compatibility vs. the Kentsfield which is stictly desktop 1U usage.
E. We will soon all realize that CPUZ doesn't know everything and it does make mistakes.

Yay, we can now argue again.

Did you try other software to recognize the CPU.

And you admit it's not a Kentsfield. Thus, you've been stiffed.

'Better' in the sense that it's ready for dual CPU compatibility. If you take this as your only determination it's better, I think that's incorrect. You say yourself overclocking sucks. That might be because it's not a Kentsfield.

You've not been sold what was promised... at so far, it does not deliver the performance you were indicated to get. Correct?

Dude, we might as well not bother, he's not listening to us. Personally if it was me i would do so much to let this guy be honest about it, that it isn't funny. Darn my forgiving nature

It's really easy to say that you'd do something against the seller, but it's a lot harder to actually do when you bought something from an international seller. A lot of time there's no good legal recourse. His best course is likely to expose the seller on the site he bought it off of because the guy's rep on that site might be worth a refund, especially if he wants to sell more stuff there.

I'm not saying i do stuff to the people, but there are ways of getting them to refund you peacefully. I have dealt with many a scammer from distant states(California, Arizona, Etc.), no international, and i always give them alot of chances to do the right thing. But this guy seriously got ripped and he needs to contact SOMEONE.
