Can't decide between a GTX 680 or 7870 Crossfire for 2560x1440

I bring myself to the order button once a day for these 2 alternatives and just cannot bring myself to choose. I'm gaming on a 2560x1440 monitor. Would an Overclocked 680 handle this resolution fine? I have no doubt that the 7870s would considering each is faster than a 6970 and crossfired 6970s are faster than a 6990 or 590.

The thing is is that I want to be able to max my games and still have playable framerates at this res. I think the 680 would barely hold a playable framerate in say BF3 with 4xMSAA, even overclocked. I know the 7870s would for sure, but I love single card setups because they seem less apt to problems.

Any advice or experience with either of these cards at this resolution?

2xAA is enough on 2560x1440. You have the same resolution as I. FXAA would likely cover the rest. I was in the same boat to get a second 6970 but I don't like microshuttering. I ended up going for GTX 680.
