Yeah thats why you need to tighten down your HSF or Wb evenly, the corners chip pretty easily.....

Corner chipping is irrelevent. The die is MUCH smaller then what you see and in the center

Thanks Wax that's good to know..Makes sense since it's only a 90nm slice..and the core is about a centimeter...EDIT: Couldn't you get hairlines from the corners chipping?

Ive got one more question about temperatures, when I used ITE Smartguardian to get a CPU temp it showed 42C under full load. Then I went to Everest and checked the temps they were CPU 42C, Core 1 55C, and core 2 48C. I am having a hard time believeing those core 1+2 temps because the heatsink is in direct contact with the core.

I am getting the same readings with my opty170. There is like 6C-7C difference between cpu1 and 2 but my IHS is still on

Yeah that doesn't sound right..You already reset your HSF once didn't you? .. Maybe it could of sliped again..Did you sand down around the cpu locking lever, I had to do that a couple of times before it set good...

This has got me thinking if i should do it or not. i dont have the money to practice... is it that hard... or that easy to slip? Cuz i dunno when im getting my next computer...

i get like 34 or so idle but my load is around 50C

It's not hard but it's easy to mess one up..I wouldn't do it unless you can afford to buy another CPU if you do slip..
