6870 for the gpu, imo.

PSU, er.. Corsair TX550M. You could probably go cheaper but I couldn't think of anything I could recommend in good conscience.

or stuff along those lines.

"those high end games"
Like what? It depends on the games you play.
For lower-end gaming cards like an HD 6770/GTS 450 (~$100), you'll only need a 500W power (~50)supply at max. These cards can run MMORPG's smoothly and on the low end, demanding games such as Battlefield 3.
Middle-end gaming cards like an HD 6950/GTX560 Ti (~$200) need to step it up to a 600W/700W power supply (~$60-90). These cards can run almost all games smoothly and can run Ultra presets on most games at ~30+ FPS.
High-end gaming cards like an HD 7970/GTX 680 (~$500) need a lot of juice to run on, around 800W+ ($100+). These cards are dubbed "hardware pr0n".

you probably don't need more than a 600w psu for any single gpu on the market.

my gts 450 will play battlefield happily at all settings to ultra without AA turned on. (@1600x900)

a gtx 460 is fine for 1600x900 on high.
your cpu is really outdated, what motherboard do you have? upgrading the cpu will make a huge difference in games.
is plenty for about what you need for a psu .

also nice sig rig. tongue.gif
