GTX 680 availability - Page 111

Go back to an older driver for Shogun 2? The 680 wins in almost every game, and you want to return it because of one?
In progress.

In one game. That heavily favors AMD. You could actually look at the entire review and see the 680 outperforms the 7970 on almost every other game. Though I suppose you could continue cherry-picking tests and jumping to outlandishly terrible conclusions.

Actually if you look at what I posted above, AMD wins in most of the benches at 2560x1600, which is the more reasonable resolution for SLI/CF configs.

AMD does tend to do scale better at higher res. That and I was only looking at the review he linked because he wanted to jump to being unreasonable because of one single bench. I'm not saying the 680 will be the better buy, and I'm not going to say the 7970 is better either. What I was pointing out is that he was flaming a card based on one test from one game from one review site.

Not just shogun, metro, deus ex, and when GTX 680 win is by 5 fps, 7970 OC can be found for 470 USD, its pretty atractive, i think what is been needing here is a GK110, gtx 680 doesnt seems to be an obviously choice IMO. pretty sure we should wait a bit more for GK110.

No, it's not an obvious choice. I'd say they're both very equal. Especially when you take OCing headroom into account. Frankly, in my mind buying one or the other is entirely dependent on brand loyalty, power usage, and size requirements. I would also assume when the GTX 680 finally gets back in stock consistently, prices will drop. Current prices are inflated simply because nvidia doesn't have anything available on the market yet. Once the 670 and more cards actually come in stock , we should hopefully see prices drop across the board.

Yeah for every bench you see there's another one that contradicts it, IF you can even get through a game with AMD. Experience from OCN members says a lot.

Look at both club threads, one (7970) is just trying to get through a game without crashing, crossfire is defunct with thier drivers. The other (680) are playing games effortlessly and enjoying them.

Do what you want, it's your money and your experience you will pay for. 5FPS......really? You can't even see 5 FPS unless FRAPS is running.

Don't believe me? Read up yourself. You'll see the tone set by its club members which speaks volumes. AND has had four months with thier drivers and Nvidia already is close to great. smile.gif we may not have voltage unlocked but its on par performance and don't have to dig into changing files to have a successful over clock.

You have to remember though, gtx680= release drivers and 7970=not release drivers. You'll have to wait and see, I can guarantee nividia will release a more mature driver by the end of this month. Regardless the performance difference of each card is still minimal, both are great buys.

I returned my 7970 a week ago, way too many problems. If you plan on only playing Shogun 2 then go ahead and get a 7970 over a 680 I guess rolleyes.gif.
