Hey guys.

I'm running a Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3 with an AMD Phenom ii x6 1045t.
I got DDR3 1333mhz RAM.

I've been experimenting with overclocking with my $40 after market heat sink cooler and managed to achieve a stable overclock of 3.3Ghz. Running Prime95 for ages and only hitting about 46C. Not bad smile.gif
I turned off the power saving bull**** and it seems to be working pretty well.

My current stable overclock settings were achieved like this.
FSB = 250
CPU Freq x13.5 = 3.3Ghz
NB & HT Link x8 = 2000mhz
Memory Clock x5.33 = 1332mhz
No voltage changes. I really have no idea what I am doing with voltages.

Anyway so I am hooked and want more speed.
I am considering trying something which to me seems pretty crazy to me. I want to attempt to increase the FSB wildly but pull all the multipliers back. Here is what I'm looking at doing.

So with the FSB at 333 and the multipliers lowered it should look like this.
CPU Freq x10.5 = 3496mhz
North Bridge & HT Link x6 = 2000mhz
Memory Clock x4 = 1332mhz

Will this blow up my computer?

I'm no pro, but you should be good. At some point, there will simply not be enough voltage to boot, and you will have to restart the computer or possibly reset the BIOS. When it comes to this point, nudge up the CPU voltage, and perhaps the NB speed/voltage if need be, to find the max FSB of your board and CPU.

Read some guides around here, as raising the FSB will raise the speed of everything, including memory, which can introduce headaches. I've been fiddling with the FSB of my ancient setup recently, and managed to squeeze out another 0.2Ghz at roughly the same voltage by increasing the FSB instead of just using the multiplier. Not completely stable yet, but I'm working on it.

EDit: take it in steps. Up the FSB by 5MHz at a time. Don't go too fast.

Since posting this, I have discovered that my first overclock wasn't as stable as I thought.

FSB = 250
CPU Freq x13.5 = 3.3Ghz
NB & HT Link x8 = 2000mhz
Memory Clock x5.33 = 1332mhz

I got a BSOD after waking my pc up from sleep.

So maybe this is to do with not enough voltage to the ram since the FSB is 50 higher than stock.

Can you recommend a guide i should read at all?

excellent guide for phenoms and thubans

http://www.overclock.net/general-processor-discussions/838244-prime95-quick-dirty-guide-custom-settings.html

excellent guide for a quick stability check( by NO means does this equal stable!)

set your cpu-nb multi up to 11. thatll get you 2750. add a bump or 2 to the cpu-nb voltage to get it stable.
bump your cpu voltage/vcore/whatever you want to call it, up a notch or 2. you should have a problem running that speed and even higher.
