- Type 'msconfig' in the search box of the Start menu.
- Click the Boot tab.
- Click the Advanced Options button.
- Turn off the Maximum Memory option if it's checked (or set it to 64GB).
- Reboot.

I didn't know about that part of the msconfig, thanks. The box was already unchecked, checking it and setting it to 64gb didn't work either though, went back and forth a few times restarting and nothing made a difference.

*EDIT*

I found the answer to the Windows usable ram issue: Here Apparently home premium can only use 16gb, the higher versions of windows can use up to 192gb.

Ok at least that issue is resolved, I'll do a clean windows install tonight maybe and put ultimate on. Then I just need to figure out how to get this ram clocked up to 2133 or 2400.

Hard to say since they rarely if ever come up Used on Ebay. In the UK an MSIBBXP2 costs about £240 new so I would expect £130 on Ebay based on my experience of selling used PC components.

Need advice:
I'm still having an issue with stability

Issue:
whenever I turn off the PC completely from the plug my OC becomes unstable, my OC profile becomes unstable and the ONLY way to get everything working back to normal is to reset everything to default, run at default, turn off, then manually put all settings again, and then I can run prime for hours at and and play anything I want.

Bios version 2.6

had 2 different PSUs, 3 different sets of ram, different GPUs.

Any idea what might be causing this strange issue?

More details pls. How does the OC become unstable ? (1 hour of Prime95 means almost nothing in terms of stability).
One of my OCs survived 9 hours of Prime95, played FC3 for less than an hour and got a 101 BSOD.

When you load BIOS defaults and enter your OC settings, what are those settings?

When you load BIOS defaults and enter your OC settings, what are those settings?

1. 10-12-15h of prime. with 30gigs of ram
2. no bsod it just freezes/ or machine_exception error BSOD

OC settings (I'll post screens later):
CPU base clock 100
Base clock strap 1
CPU ratio 45
Internal PLL overvoltage enabled
EIST disabled
TURBO disabled
RAM: Linked, 1866, XMP profile 1
Vdroop control - 100%
Digital compensation level high
CPU core expander enchanced
CPU core engine speed 1.5
CPU core voltage 1.335
S/A Auto (tried higher manual, when was messing with ram -> didn't affect stability)
I/O Auto (same as above)
CPU PLL Auto (1.8v)
C1E and all energy saving functions disabled
short term and long term CPU draw peak set to 260

Basically those settings can run prime for 10h+, run any game just fine. But once I turn of the rig, unplug for the outlet, and then get it back on, they become unstable (will freeze the system on prime within seconds), the saved profile becomes unstable (will freeze the system completely in prime within seconds), and the only way to get it back is to set everything to default, run prime in default for 2min, restart, get everything manually back the way it was -> and then no issues again.

What can be causing this? Just to clarify - I unplug the rig from the outlet to clean off the dust from the rads maybe like once every month, so it happens once every month

Hmm...not really sure why it becomes unstable after a reboot.

But, could you set the 'CPU Engine Core Speed' to 1.0 and lower the 'CPU PLL' to 1.7v and check stability after a reboot ?

I found something stashed away in one of my storage buildings yesterday.
The Big Bang I joined this club with.
Still in the box.
There are water blocks and a 3930K mounted, but I never built it!
All I can figure is that was about the time I had one of a series of heart attacks I went through back then.
But I have no idea why, how or when it was stored away and never built.
I just remembered. It wouldn't fit my Corsair 800D since it's an XL-ATX.
I stashed it in my closet until I could buy a different case and must've forgot about it.
My parents had to sell their home because they lost most of their savings during and after the 9/11 attack.
They decided to move down here and we'd combine our households. Then they had a new house built for all of us.
That had to be it. We put a lot of things in storage until everything got settled down and this board had to have ended up there. Wow.
And now I'm still short of one case when I thought I was through buying them.
I've got a lot of catching up to do!
I don't have a case for it, but I do have a test bench I haven't put together yet.
I wonder if I can mod my PrimoChill Wet Bench for it?
Here's what the bench looks like. White acrylic and a carbon fiber tray with a jet black mobo. Classy!

Hi guys. Looking at this board and a 4930k. Will this fit in my haf x? Coolermaster specs says gigabyte xl-atx whatever that means. Also anyone have trouble flashing if the bios is old for ivy-e? Comments on pros and cons are welcome too. I plan to run 6 ssd in raid 0 (i know there are no gains but i got 6 m4 128's for like 50 bucks each), three r9 290x, and a soundblaster zx card. Any probs with that setup? My z77x-ud5h is handling it now.

Hi the bit of your question I can answer is yes it definitely fits in a HAF-X. If you plan to watercool any components the HAF-X has space up top for a 30mm thick 360 rad with fans mounted inside and 2 x 200mm fans top.
No probs flashing BIOS except don't use Live Update 5 which is an abortion. Only prob with your 3 cards and souncard is that it will leave very little space above the PSU and the OC buttons may be inaccessible. I had a soundcard and I ditched because the BBXP2 has good onboard sound.
