I don't think you guys realize just how impotent the GPU is. The 7670 is a re branded 6670 and the 6670 is around 40-50% slower than a 5770. It really is truly weak. The Wii U should be eating that pretty easily. No amount of optimizing is going to help, lol, and you can kiss longevity good bye.
It's too bad. They couldn't even use a 6770.
You underestimate the 7670.

The 6770/7670 may not have a huge fill rate advantage over a 7800GT, but it does have a massive advantage where it counts, texturing and shader power. Fill rate doesn't need to improve much when resolutions aren't going to be more than 1080p and when virtually every visual enhancement is being moved to the shaders.

Because heavy modifications come with a heavy price tag.

I wouldn't expect much more than a clock speed bump, maybe an eDRAM die, but even that might be pushing it.

Why are people even complaining about the GPU?

Do you not realize the current consoles have GPU's equivalent to a 7800gtx yet they somehow are able to run Crysis 2 and Metro 2033 and look decent?

They're able to do A LOT with the console gpus. Imagine what developers can do with a GPU that has 4x the vram and 2-3x the power.

Current games are also lightly threaded. Their aim is now going to be developing for the full 4 cores in the A8. I'm sure the 7670 is a little under-powered for almost any four core when all of the cores are used.

how does one 'detail' specs for a system that probably won't be out for another 2 years, if not longer

don't playstations usually have a 10+ year cycle? ps3 came out in nov 2006.
