The only reason I could think of why EA was voted #1 is due to their greed and support for measures such as SOPA and online to play single-player games (Origin).
Great support? Is that why my friend who preordered ME3 on Origin, then changed his mind and wanted a physical copy (And cancelled the origin pre-order) got charged twice? And when he asked them about it, they "refunded" him? And when he asked them where the cash was, they disabled ME3? It took him 5 live chat sessions to get it sorted.
EA has horrible customer service, up there with Razer. (Who utterly refused to think my Lycosa was broken when it clearly was)
And not only are they greedy, they also (at one point) treated their employees like crap.
Also, look at SW:TOR forums...Nothing but horrible support. People getting banned for no reason, etc.

Blind hate...? Really? They have horrible support, they milk their games worse than Activision (The Sims 3. As fun as it is, you have to admit two expansion packs, two "stuff packs" and many bits of DLC in the shop is a little
over the top) and tend to act like douches in general to their main audience.
