Is it normal for gpu core voltage to decrease under load?

What I'm noticing is that my gpu voltage is dropping when the card is under load.

If I set the voltage to 1.088v in afterburner, gpuz reads it as 1.072-1.074v and under load gpuz reads the voltage as 1.04-1.05v.

At stock settings, the voltage is at .963v idle @ 3d clocks and .94v under load in gpuz.

Is this normal?

And is there a way to prevent the voltage from dropping under load? Cause if I set it to 1.088v I kind of want the card to be running 1.088v under load.

It's essentially vdroop. Common for most cards. Perfectly normal.

So when people say a max safe voltage for a card, is that under load or while idle?

Because I'm assuming I would have to be around 1.15v on my gtx 570 for it to be 1.1v during load, and I really don't wanna blow up my gtx 570 as I've heard the max safe voltage is 1.1v.

And there isn't any way to correct it like cpus with LLC?

I did own a 570 but i can't remember what volts i used with what clocks. Not too sure what was deemed the max safe voltage either. What i do know is that if 1.1v is all you want to put through it then set it to 1.1v in afterburner, or whatever you use, and don't worry too much about what
gpuz is showing.

If people are saying 1.1 is the max volts then they are referring to what you set it to in your overclock program.

What do the graphs in AB show as the voltage in a load scenario?

I've never seen or even heard of vdroop on a GPU ... my voltage has always run at exactly what I set it at in Afterburner when under full load. I only monitor using the AB graphs, but I've no reason to think GPU-Z is any more accurate in volt monitoring.

Fluctuation in voltage is normal, software won't always show it, but every card I've checked with a meter has either some vrise/vdroop & the load voltage never sits still when the card runs. Software monitoring is rarely accurate.

In AB whatever I set the voltage to, AB only shows that voltage and it doesn't even fluctuate a little between load and idle @ 3d clocks. This makes me believe that it isn't even actually showing anything close to the actual voltage.

But in gpuz the voltage fluctuates depending if the card is under load or just sitting idle @ 3d clocks. This makes me believe it is somewhat more accurate than AB as it should be impossible for the voltage to stay 100% constant between idle and load and not even fluctuate .001v.

Obviously the best way would be to get a volt meter, but I don't have one, or the time to use it even if I did.

If I need to set the voltage to 1.15 in AB just to get 1.1v while under load then I guess I will. Although they have llc for cpus, so why not for gpus?
