Athlon XP 2100+
ASUS A7N8X
ATI 9600XT(Ti 4200 before that)
512 Megs of Ram
120 Gig Hardrive

My first build from the ground up. My first overclocking experience got it 2.1 with stock cooling. Loved every minute of it. Played the usual games of the time HL, SC, Warcraft and Tribes 2

So it wasn't magic balls of electricity that made my computer go lol. That cpu cooler looks awfully small.

Our family got our first computer that year, 1.8 GHZ P4, 256MB DDR, and a kickin' 36 GB hard drive. All this with all required accessories and peripherals, Office 2000, various other softwares, and a years subscription to AOL for a slick $1300. The thing would probably still be kicking if it wasn't in pieces.

Asus A7N8X Deluxe
Athlon XP 2700+
2x512 MB Corsair DDR 400
Radeon 9700 Pro
WD 80 GB HDD

Man, those were the days when most people didn't have the slightest clue how to build a computer. People would always ask "so who makes it, is it a Dell or HP?" tongue.gif

I had no idea what all the components were in a computer. I started asking at 7, and then I really got into computers when I was ten. I built my first PC at 12, and its one year old this summer. I ask people at school what their computers are and they give me 'Gateway' or one of this forums taboo words 'Apple'. Sigh.

Man those A7N8X were popular in there time. Great solid boards ugly as sin by today's standards but great none the less.

The specs are in my sig. We couldn't get it to work for about a year (lol) so we continued to use the Pentium 3 450MHz rig that we had from 1999. rolleyes.gif I remember trying to play games on both, despite the lack of 3D support on the P3 and the abysmal performance of the P4's GF2 MX400 GPU.

I'm in the process of trying to get both working again, for s**t's and giggles (and to run a file server). biggrin.gif

My parents bought an HP (Packard Dell) in 2000, and by 2002 he had installed a ATI 9600XT, an extra 512MB RAM, and he had a new cd burner on it. It was a Pentium III with Windows ME on it. i remember when he bought it, it was late 1999 like around Christmas.

I was 11 years old, I talked him into buying Warcraft II with it while we were there because it met the system reqs. I remember going home and I set it up by myself, and installed the software for him.
They were proud, they didnt really know how to mess with one, but i needed it for school and I was able to do it and that is how I got my start.
