Help fixing laptop

The laptop is an hp pavilion dm3-1039wm

The owner says she dropped it on the corner and as you can see all the plastic is cracked off.

There are 2 wires pulled apart in the charging port, which you can see in the pictures, so it doesn't charge.

The charging port and ethernet are hanging out the side.
I have considered just getting a laptop that is the same, and pulling the parts from this one into the other's case, is this a bad idea?

Where can I find replacement charging ports?

Is it possible to replace the plastic side panels on these laptops? 42575874-0367-807f.jpg

Ethernet hanging out shouldn't be a problem - on my laptop it's literally only held in by the case being screwed down (ie take off case bottom, ethernet isn't secured.). Basically, I doubt it broke, otherwise a soldering job.

Most laptops have 1 single part for the whole case-bottom (which includes the sides of the laptop). I'd double-check; I can't tell from the pictures if that's how the laptop is built. Here's a case-bottom, http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Pavilion-DM3-1140US-series-Bottom-Base-Bezel-580889-001-/170804721726?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27c4c1383e
