if you got a big enough radiator you wouldn't need fans at all
get a couple of these

You can see how I did my FT02BW in the 'Forever Alone' link in my signature. With the three stock 180mm fans on low it is relatively quiet. The two MCP35x I have run @ 20%. Although I will be dropping down to one the next time I take the rig a part.

How much work was removing the drive cages? Is there enough room for 3-4 HDD's with the pump and res?

You need to drill out 4 rivets to remove the drive cage iirc. Rather easy t do.

Ok. so being as this is my first time using water I'm hoping to make this single gpu loop as simple as possible.

I think I'm going to go with a Res+Pump combo to save space and heartache. Probably something like the XSPC Dual bay res/pump combo.

I'm either going to go the route of the magicool dual 180 rad like fake used, or the Magicool Extreme Triple 180mm x 35mm Slim Radiator that this build uses. I haven't decided if I want to get a block for my 680 or order a brand new hydro from evga.

Could use some recommendations on tubing and compression fittings, since I'm still so new at this, and anything else I might need. Obviously I'll be spamming guides, but things get outdated and opinions are always welcome.

I'm going to suggest you pass on that pump and go with something like an MCP-655 in a similar bay res, you can snag this and specify to include an MCP-655B in the options. It's a bit more expensive, but the 655 has great reliability, something that the pump you linked has a bit of a spotty record with.

Thanks, I'll do that. Should I add on fittings from that same page?

I don't know much about tubing or fittings, and was recommended this tubing and these fittings originally, but will they work with the setup I've chosen so far?

Those fittings and tubing are fine together, and any G1/4 fittings will work with everything you're buying. If you know the fittings you want, there's no point in adding other fittings with the res, you might as well get all the same so they match.

Ok, so this appears to be my build.

Stock 180 fans with my FT02.
Magicool Triple 180 or the double posted earlier.
XSPC Dual Bay Res with MCP655-B.
PrimoFlex Pro LRT Tubing. Probably white as I don't plan to use UV.
Compression fittings

Do I need anything else? Coolant obviously. Is Distilled water + Pt Nuke still the way to go? Silver coil? Am I all set to start making purchases as soon as I decide on the gpu block? I know to get extra tubing length, but how many fittings will I need for a single GPU loop? I was going to grab 6 to be safe and have enough extra for the future.
