Starmenu in win 7 and in winxp was fairly similar if you ask me. Unless of course you set the startmenu to classic in xp. But you can do the same on 7. If I can set the menu to classic on win 8 I think itll be a good feature to have in.

You can change the start menu to one that looks similar (if not identical) to Windows 7; however you have to change it through the registry, but I doubt it'll be like this for ever since most people tend to hate the metro interface.

It is terrible.

Have it on a spare amd e350 mini itx build, and I do not like it. I just might put XP back on it. I run Win7 for 4 other systems and one OSX build.

Yes I do know theres a registry tweak. But is it so hard for ms to add in a convenient button/option to be able to switch withouth registry tweaks?

I dont have a problem with Windows 8, I do however have a problem with the "start" screen or "apps" screen.
It seems so counter-intuitive, and it removes alot of "normal" windows features/commands/shortcuts,
Im normaly a guy that thinks "new is always better", and I would say it works here aswell, just give people an option to disable the "start/apps" screen, I mean, who would it hurt?

Let the UAC pop ups begin...

UAC is a pain, and the split feeling of win 8 kind of turned me away from the preview at first sight.

imho the improvement from xp to win7 != win7 to win8

I think Microsoft just wants to follow their tradition of bad OS (Me), good OS (XP), bad OS (Vista), good OS (W7), bad OS (W8).

People bought Windows 7 because they realized that Windows Vista was a bad OS.
But now Windows 7 is a good OS and everybody knows that , what reason will they buy Windows 8 for ?

Honestly, win7 is vista 2.0 or better "vista corrected". Nothing else really. Which makes win8 pretty much vista3.0

Is there a significant difference between the dev preview and the consumer preview? I tried the dev preview and didn't like it at all.
