Won't make much sense getting a 3930K as a secondary rig since it will be way better than your main rig lol. Personally I'd make the 3930K my primary and the 960 will be a dedicated folder.

Another beast of a folding CPU is a 2600K, that thing OCed and running on a native Linux box will decimate smile.gif. One advantage of a 1155 (2600K) build would be its cost; quite a bit cheaper than a 2011 build.

I say get yourself a 2600K, ASRock Z68 Extreme 4, 4GB of fast RAM (it will help with folding), and all the rest of what you need and call it a day. thumb.gif

to put it in perspective guys I "would" be spending around the same money as I did building the 960

before the intel cpu price drop I paid roughly the same price for the 960 as the 3930k is today and my mobo of choice would be the asus p9x79 deluxe pro which is only a tiny bit more expensive than my current asus x58 ws revolution at the time

so really I find this insignificant

yeah, I know about the cheaper, "equivalent" alternatives...

the hardware is not the reason why I choose the 960 to be my primary rig...
