[CNET] Why Nokia's Lumia 900 screen looks so darn good - Page 6

Completely different in my case. I own the i9100 international SGS2 and also have the iphone 4s due to a certain circumstance. . Both use screen protectors and I have dropped the i9100 on concrete a few times by accident. There is one slightly scratched corner, but nothing else. I dropped the iphone at lower height, around knee to hip height and the front screen practically shattered. (due to it slipping)

Ill take lower build quality over higher quality if it cant even be near durable.

4.3in with a resolution of 480x800? No thanks, I don't care how bright it is, that resolution of that big of a screen sucks, look at the TBolt screen, it is a failure. I can't believe they would compare it to the GNex screen, this phone has a ppi of 217 and the GNex has a ppi of 316, 99 more pixels per inch, you can't compare the two...

This is cool news to hear about the Nokia Lumia 900. I hadn't heard much about the screen. This is one thing I definitely a feature I wish my Focus or EVO 4 had. Glad to hear.

Owned? Not really..His main argument was based off videos, etc and not actual experience with the phone.

All this talk about how durable the SGSII is... I beg to differ. I had an iPhone 3GS for a couple of years, dropped it once or twice, and there was little to no damage. There was a spec under the screen that was terribly annoying, but that's it. I bought the SGSII and am very impressed with Android. I won't go back to an iOS device. The screen is absolutely stunning, although it does take a ton of juice.
Having said that, I think that the plastic on the back is pretty terrible. At the bottom where the speaker is, the plastic is all dull and scratched. I have NEVER dropped this phone. All it does is either slide in and out of my pocket, or sit on a desk. This phone is only 5 months old, and it looks like something that I have had since 2007.

Edit: ON topic, I'm really looking forward to the 900 coming to Canada. Hopefully it doesn't take to long to come to Virgin, but they are usually one of the last to get new phones with the exception of the Nexus. On second thought, they don't have ANY Windows phones.

That's odd, mine gets dropped occasionally, is in my pocket and on my desk, etc...Have you got the AT&T version or the normal version? Mine is practically fine. I had a case for it, but the actual case itself kept breaking in annoying areas but the phone is (mostly) fine apart from a tiny amount of scratches on the battery cover.

You can have 64 cores with 128GB of RAM and it won't feel any different to the Lumia 900.

While I'm loving the style of the new nokias, this looks far too big for it's design. The lumia 800 was designed properly for it's size, this just looks stretched!
I'm biased though I hate big screen phones, currently have an HTC HD7 and it's just too big (not to mention the cheap chipping of the coating which looks awful).

My Lumia 800 is also pretty rugged but I do have scratches on my screen (which I never had with my Galaxy S) within around a week of usage and frankly I'd think twice about dropping it which I would do repeatedly without a second thought on my old Samsung. Give credit where credit is due and stop being so narrow minded, please. You're like an RSS feed to WMPowerUser lachen.gif

If it makes you feel better I dropped my s2 from about 3 feet getting out of my car and the screen shattered.

Do u use an Android emulator @ home on ur home PC..?  Then why use a fake OS phone..  (oh thats right, Android is for Tinkerers).
