cant get XL2410T to run at 120hz

I set up my XL2410T monitor straight out of the box with the DVI-D Dual link cable plugged into my Radeon HD 5870 but it doesnt refresh at 120hz ingame i.e. Counter-Strike: Source.

CSS SET LAUNCH OPTIONS: -w 1920 -h 1080 -refresh 120

When i open the game my refresh rate drops down to 60hz when i alt tab to check CCC

Are you sure your 5870 has a Dual Link DVI port? Here I'll show a pic to demonstrate difference...

I know from experience from my 6950, one was Dual link and the other was not. Make sure it's plugged into the right one.

I thought you had to reduce the res for CSS in order to play at 120? I had issues at first to getting 120 to work and I had to plug the DVI cable into the other DVI outlet in my car since only one is Dual link I guess. You may want to try a different resolution and see if that works.

I can confirm that css runs at 1920x1080 @ 120hz.

Didn't work, css still changes to 60hz; i can tell something changes when i launch the game, the screen blacks out for a second or two like the resolution is changing but its the hertz that drops down

Strange, is it just CSS or other games as well? If it's only CSS you can exclude hardware faults.

I have tried some games i have e.g. HoN, Dota 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 as they dont change to 60hz, CCC says its still at 120hz

although Team Fortress 2 and Counter Strike: Source both drop down to 60hz...

On e.g. DOta 2, check the in game options, if it says 60hz or 120hz.

That's strange, then it's not hardware related, might be driver related...
