Chimp Challenge 2012?? - Page 17

carlos I dont understand your calculations. "I took each teams 24hr ppd then took the percent of each teams 24hr output which came to 0.002 etc etc".

Are you saying say OCN has 24hr ppd of 10 million, and during the CC last year we did 20 million ppd so the handicap is 50%? Is that what you mean?

Nope, just looking at overall stats for everyone here: http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_list.php?s=&t=37726#37726

I think we should use overall stats to compute a handicap. It is up to each team to recruit folders to the CC!

For the 24 hour calculation simply add the four teams 24hr output from here which totaled 75,384,734
Then I took each team's individual 24hr output and divided that by the total 24hr output to come up with a percentage. Example: OCN 24hr output is 18,260,569 so 18,260,569 / 75,384,734 = 0.242231657 (or 24% of the four teams 24hr output). I calculated the handicap by in-versing the 24% hence the 76% handicap assigned to OCN.

Sounds way more complicated than it really is.

Essentially 76% of the total points generated by OCN during the CC will equal OCNs CC score. 71% of EVGA's, 65% of HOCP, and 89% of Overclock.com's

For simplicity the formula would be:

CC Score= (CC points) x (Handicap %)

Going off just this, what's the formula to calculate "CC points"?

I keep seeing that there just can't be a total agreement on how the system should work. Perhaps the Chimp Challenge has run its course and its time to come up with something else or to stop the competition between the teams altogether? I do hate to even think of the latter. We all fold for the cure. And after that the fun. But if the disagreement on how the point system is going to work is going to cause as big an issue as it is then whats the point?

We here at OCN spend a lot of time recruiting and running contests etc to get more folders throughout the year. If the other teams can't take the time and or effort to get more people folding for them that's their loss. I know its a cold thing to say. But if they spent the amount of time and effort we here on OCN did they would not be at the bottom.

Erick, do you, in your wildest dreams, think that those kinds of idea's are helpful in any possible way?

Besides proving you're an ultimate elitist, what possible good is any of your above post? Our goal in this thread, is to work on the CC contest. Your suggestion is that we kill it, and celebrate your team's industriousness?

Is that your best constructive idea? Amazing.

@epidemic:
It's not "political" as it might sound, but the DETAILS of a race, are very important. Not because winning is all that, but because you want it to be fun, and competitive for every team, in a handicap race.

He doesn't know how to handicap it just right, but it's an OK start. Still skewed, but looks like he knows that.

It's over-cooked. We don't need three categories - I thought they might be needed, but have reached the conclusion that the raw points winner, should get a separate (slightly different color or banner added to the Jaded Monkey), for high point team - because honestly, there are only two teams that will be competing for it, in the foreseeable future. [H] will NOT be competing. (Despite my urging, and several others), they are "No, No, and hell no, and if you keep talking about it, we'll lock your thread - for starters!"

I believe the team that grows the most from year to year, should win the race. Imagine you and I and Usain Bolt were all in a handicap 100 meters race. You and I get blocks to start, about at the 50 meter mark. Bolt is back at the regular start line. Now we experiment with that, and find THE PLACE, where with a good run, we all cross the finish line in a dead heat. That would be a perfect handicapped race!

Now, we get together next week, but this time, you've been practicing, and improve by 3%. I've been practicing a small bit, but only make 1% improvement. Bolt is too busy making commercials for Nike, and makes no improvement.

Who should win this race? Bolt, me, or you?

If you said "you", then you want a handicap race!

And is that, or is that NOT what he calls "growth"? Think so. So what is the "conversion" category all about?
And the version I saw in the CC forum, had an "adjustment" column for the conversion category, but there was no adjustment - same data as in the conversion column. Maybe just still working on it?
