SteelSeries RAW [sensei] - Page 4

UPE is not teflon aka PTFE

We all notified Kimrom about the feet and insisted on having them changed months upon months prior to actual release. How that got overlooked is beyond me.

I really don't care any more so ill just say it:

Kana was made to sell with maximum profit margin in mind.

The only thing actually interesting about the mouse is the above average micro controller you wouldn't see in a mouse with surrounding components... though, I even consider that dated as the market will slowly but surely move on to 32 bit controllers as prices continue to drop.

Etc.
See I can do it too.

shape can be fixed, swapped into a dif mouse etc but the sensor cannot

while i agree they are both prob tied for #1 the sensor imo comes out on top for me since i can simply change the shape via some method of moding

SS has been dead to me for a while, the stuff they make is just awful... the only thing they do well is use the SAME mouse shape over and over.
Almost done...

Isn't that the case with all SS mice? In fact its like that with all these laser mice. How the hell do you go from selling a G400 with 40$ and then a Xai/Naos/Kone with 80$? They all have teflon skates, omron switches etc. How expensive is that 9500 exactly? If you add the braided cord and the stupid LCD screen you can say thats another 5$, but 80? Let's be serious these laser mice are just a way for the companies to fill their pockets.
And then you have this stupid thing http://www.xtremereview.com/mouse-prestigio-pmsg1g-review with A9500 and switches that felt like omron to me, braided cable, solid built and adjustable weight system. That's 30$ in my country.

Most. The Sensei is a bit different as it comes from a lets say "better" OEM and has quality components from top to bottom. The profit margin on a mouse like the Kana or even Kinzu v2 is a bit higher when all is said and done though.

The G400 is much cheaper mouse inside, but you don't see nor care about that as you're only concerned about what the sensor's doing. Logitech is capable of pushing out products other companies can't really match as they don't have to really worry about stuff like outsourcing and what not.

"Laser mice" has/have nothing to do with anything. They're just using the best and most advanced sensors available for purchasing and packaging them with the goal to sell a product. I know you won't agree with those choices, but that's how the market works.

@ mouse. I've seen that shell before. Not able to comment as I don't know what's inside. Omrons in bulk are cheap. A9500 isn't phenomenally more expensive than a full A3090 setup.

That's what i meant, i was referring to the A9500. And maybe laser has nothing to do with it, but i can't remember an optical mouse that costs 80$. Can you?
My point was pretty much what you said. It's like any other product, the latest is the most expensive. The only difference is the latest LED is better than an LCD, but i can't say the same thing with mice.

Do you think SS switched to UPE because prices of PTFE resin have increased? Perhaps the cost of PTFE was passed onto SS and they could not get a favorable contract from suppliers? Both are polymers/plastics but UPE is much cheaper in cost. UPE has similar properties to PTFE but customers feel it is inferior.

The choice to source UPE as a glide material was also made with the original Kinzu (2009). I assume the OEM offered it as a cheaper alternative.

The savu is 90$ here in sweden, expensive as hell biggrin.gif

The cost sadly shows when they add atleast to me crap like 16.8 BILLLLION COLORS, achievement system (still most retarded thing I ever heard), LCD screens with a pentium processor.
Like *** whats going on with manufacturers, how will mice end up in the future, will all look like the new BMW mouse but with a 10 horsepower engine fueled by petrol?

I'm hoping in the future a mouse will be like an exoskeleton that sorta sticks to your hand and it propagates a magnetic field which you can use to shape the exoskeleton to whatever you like, and because it sorta sticks to your hand you never have to worry about grips ever again. Also it uses 1:1 tracking that is sensed by the magnetic field.

Maybe that's a pre-order price. Savu won't be 90$.
