Sorry, but modern PC's last at least 5 years before you actually need to upgrade anything. If I still had my Q6600 + xfire 4850 I would still be able to play BF3 at low to med settings at 1080p. That would look pretty much exactly like BF3 on console.

If I did decide to upgrade that rig with a 200~$ gpu after 5 years, it would be equivalent to my savings from buying cheaper games over the years.

The claim that console games have no bugs is also false, there have been plenty of recent console games with bugs. BF3 and Skyrim come to mind.

Also the price of a console is not simply 400-500$ for the box, there are endless options for accessories and services that will increase the price. Then when you consider the increased price of games you soon realize that console gaming is no where near as cheap as some people like to make it out to be.

Then when a new generation comes out you have to buy all your games and accessories all over again, not what I call cheap or convenient. When you buy a keyboard and mouse for PC, you don't need to buy a new one every time you upgrade.

Also if someone is just now buying a console for 200~250$ then that means they didn't have it for the 7 or so years since the PS3 and 360 launched. Which means when the next gen consoles come out your going to have to buy a new console and accessories just to buy the more expensive new games that come out.

I have all three current generation consoles too and I agree that it can be nice to sit in front of the TV on your couch and just casually play a game. Just because most people prefer the simplicity of a console doesn't mean its cheaper or better.

TL;Dr: PC gaming would be cheaper in the long run.

I owned an Xbox for about 2 years.....played the dang thing I think.....about 6 times? I turned around and sold it. For one.....I couldn't stand those huge bulky game pads compared to my old trusty MS side winder pro's ( I have 7 new ones still in the box! ). Also....being an older PC gamer I honestly thought the games were dumbed down / cheesy looking. And this is coming from someone who's main gaming / play around computer ( the one I'm on right now ) is an AMD 4000+ , GTX260 , 2GB ram on a 23" monitor.......still liked it better than my xbox on a 54" 600mhz plasma!

If I can some how finish my new computer one day.....I'm sure I'll get back into doing some more gaming again. Crap!......I haven't been able to play anything past Doom3 , original farcry and HL2!

I got some major catching up to do!

Good news is....I have a new caselabs TH10 sitting here and have everything for it except for the MB , Cpu , ram and video cards. Might not get built until fall though since I have to many outdoor activities going on when the weather is good.

The thing is, consoles are getting the better games while PC is stuck with puzzle games from independent developers and few console ports. So yes, you have an awesome graphics card and processor, but what do you have to use it on? Some indie game that even a single core and onboard graphics can run smoothly?
